Children & Youth

Our Boys Club is for 3rd thru 8th graders and meets at the same time as GEMS, on three Wednesday nights a month from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Many meetings feature a Bible lesson, a small group time and an activity time where boys work on projects with their counselors or watch a guest speaker do a demonstration as part of a merit badge.

The theme for our Boys Club this year is Amazing! We will use Joshua 3:5 to help our cadets understand that God does amazing things with ordinary people like us.

GEMS is our club for girls in 2nd thru 7th grade and meets on Wednesday nights from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the same time as the Boys Club.  It is a safe place for girls to discover who God created them to be.  Our goal is to help the girls find Jesus, live out God’s word, and be witnesses to others. This year our theme is Act. Love. Walk. It is a reminder that following Jesus takes action.

Spark is for students in grades 6, 7& 8. It meets in the youth room on the first and third Wednesday Night of the month during the school year from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

A regular meeting includes a lesson and time to be social, but other opportunities include service projects and fun outings.

Ridgewood’s High School youth group is called Flame and meets twice a month on Sunday evenings from 5 to 7 pm in the youth room.  We have dinner together and then spend time in study and fellowship. There is also plenty of fun! Flame strives to help our high school students become mature Christians through fellowship, studying God’s word, prayer and acts of service.

Nursery and Child Care

We love small children! And there is always someone present to make sure that your small children are getting the care they need during our time of worship.

Sometimes the little ones need somewhere different to play, and mor or dad need some adult company! Our playgroup time includes free play and bounce house for the kids and coffee and conversation for the parents. This fall Play Group will take place on Monday mornings.

Sunday School

Following our morning worship, children from Kindergarten through 5th grade are encouraged to attend classes taught by trained and knowledgeable volunteers, which provide the Word of God at the level of our children. The children come to know the love that Jesus has for them through the stories and lessons they enjoy.

Our Youth Ed ministry takes place after the morning worship from September through April. Both our middle school class (6th-8th grade) and our high school class (9th-12th grade) cover a variety of topics, all with an eye on understanding our Reformed traditions and building a stronger relationship with Jesus.

Ridgewood offers a Friendship class for children with special needs. The class meets during the Sunday School hour from 10:45 am to 11:45 am.  Each class features a Bible lesson that teaches God’s word through songs and crafts.  The class is led by a team of dedicated volunteers with experience teaching students with special needs.

All Church Sunday School meets to celebrate the beginning of the family ministry season and again at the end of the season to celebrate all the people and ministries God has used to help us grow in our relationships with Jesus. We also meet occasionally throughout the year to “check in” with our ministries. As the name suggests, the entire congregation is invited to these opportunities of learning and celebration.
