Fear Not

What a great meeting we had tonight at Spark!  We met at Hager Park on an epically hot and humid night for a scavenger hunt which introduced our theme for the year: Fear Not.

After starting the meeting with a loud balloon stomping icebreaker, the students were split into teams of 4-5 people.  Each team was given a map and an envelope with a clue in it that would take them to a station somewhere in the park nearby.

The group returned home safely this afternoon after a visit to the Shedd Aquarium this morning.  We had an amazing time serving God in Rodgers Park and experiencing many new and exciting things.  I want to wrap things up with one final post that shows you the work we completed on Monday along with some pics from Tuesday morning at the Shedd.

"Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.  But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” Acts 5:38-39

This morning we worshipped at Many People's Church which had quite a different feel than Ridgewood to say the least.  22 people--14 from Ridgewood--gathered in a small room on the second floor of a building a block away from Anthony's Garden.  The service began with a congregational prayer where people could share what was on their hearts and prepare for worship.  We sat not in pews but in a circle of chairs so that everyone was facing each other.  Rev John Hoekwater led us through the morning's sermon text which was Acts 5:17-41.  Everyone was invited to share their thoughts about the passage and could answer questions throughout.
