“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"
Tonight at Spark the message we taught to the students was: Depend on Jesus when you are worried.
Every year, Chapham University does a survey of the top fears in America. It turns out there are a lot of things that many Americans are afraid of including public speaking, heights, bugs, drowning, small spaces, flying, clowns, zombies, blood, strangers, darkness and many more. Last night at the Flame Kickoff, the students participated in an activity that challenged to face many of these fears head on.
What a great meeting we had tonight at Spark! We met at Hager Park on an epically hot and humid night for a scavenger hunt which introduced our theme for the year: Fear Not.
After starting the meeting with a loud balloon stomping icebreaker, the students were split into teams of 4-5 people. Each team was given a map and an envelope with a clue in it that would take them to a station somewhere in the park nearby.
