Students in grades 1-6 start each class with a time of worship in the lounge before going to their classrooms. The curriculum used in these grades places an emphasis on teaching our children the overall story of the Bible. Each class features an age appropriate Bible lesson that helps students see Jesus in every Bible story whether Old or New Testament.
Students in grades 7-8 meet at 10:45am in their classroom for a lesson from the Heidelberg Catechism. The Heidelberg Catechism teaches students the basics of the Christian faith through an in depth look at the Apostle’s Creed, baptism, communion, the 10 commandments and the Lord’s prayer.
High School Education Hour
Ridgewood offers four 4-6 week units that meet throughout the school year. Each unit is based on a book of the Bible, the Heidelberg Catechism or faith based topic that is relevant to the lives of our high school students.
All High School Students should meet in the youth room at 10:45 am for donuts and a time of fellowship. During this time Pastor Rich will take attendance and share important announcements before dismissing students to their classrooms.
Students will receive a card in their mailboxes a few weeks before the start of each unit that gives them the opportunity to sign up for their preferred class.
Ridgewood offers a Friendship class for children with special needs. The class meets during the Sunday School hour from 10:45 am to 11:45 am. Each class features a Bible lesson that teaches God’s word through songs and crafts. The class is led by a team of dedicated volunteers with experience teaching students with special needs.
Whole Church Sunday School meets four times per year in the Multi Purpose Room. During this time, the entire congregation is invited to participate in a Sunday School lesson designed for people of all ages. A sign up sheet for each Whole Church Sunday School will be made available in the narthex a few weeks before the lesson.
